Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both challenging trials and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) unit is a cutting-edge section. Here, we meet children and adolescents up to 18 years of age, as well as their families. We work based on evidence-based methods and standardized care processes, placing great emphasis on high-quality care and care development. The department also conducts extensive research in close collaboration with the clinics.
We now need to expand our capacity to see patients and reduce waiting times, and are therefore looking for a new psychologist for one of our treatment clinics. At the clinic, psychologists, doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, dietitians, and social workers work together. To ensure that patients receive good care and treatment, we collaborate in interprofessional teams. We conduct targeted improvement work in our care and actively work to improve and develop the working environment for staff. The employees at the clinic are open, positive, competent, and ambitious, making it easy to join as a new employee.
Your Role
Being a psychologist at Akademiska sjukhuset is an exciting job where you will meet people in many different situations. You will also become part of a skilled team that supports and helps each other, while you work independently. Here, you can expect a varied job with challenging tasks.
The work as a psychologist involves working together with the rest of the team on the treatment of children, adolescents, and their families individually, but we also have an extensive group activity that you can become involved in. Continuous collaboration with parents and care partners is a natural part of the work. The job also includes collaboration with other CAP operations, schools, and social services.
Your Qualifications
You must be a licensed psychologist with experience working with children and young people, preferably from CAP. You enjoy working in interprofessional teams and want to contribute to the positive development of the clinic's work and routines.
Your Competence
You always put the patient first and are responsible, motivated, and goal-oriented in your work. With a structured and self-initiated work style, you take responsibility for your tasks and drive your processes forward with a focus on results. You are not only a skilled psychologist but also an engaged and positive colleague who contributes to a good working environment through attentive and constructive collaboration. You are confident in yourself, have good self-insight, and the ability to distinguish between the personal and the professional. If you have this combined with curiosity and precision, you may be the right person for us.
What We Offer
We offer a fixed-term position from 2026-08-31 to 2027-08-29. As a new employee, you will get a mentor. We are located in newly renovated premises in the middle of Uppsala. The work is scheduled during daytime hours on weekdays. You work in a team with wonderful colleagues.

Region Uppsala values the qualities that equal gender distribution and diversity bring to the operations and welcomes applicants of all genders and with different backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences.
Region Uppsala assigns all permanent staff based on the needs of the total defense. This means no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime, but is solely a planning measure.
Before a decision on employment, a check of suspicion and criminal records is conducted for all job seekers who, in the sought employment, may come to work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care of children and adolescents, or involuntary care of addicts, areas covered by optional record extracts. This thus applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the tasks at present are not intended to primarily involve work with the aforementioned patient groups.
This recruitment is conducted entirely through Region Uppsala's own channels, and we decline phone calls from recruitment agencies and advertising sales.
